Conducts market analyses to identify systemic risks, performs macro-prudential supervision functions pursuant to the law governing macro-prudential supervision, prepares reports on the situation in the insurance sector and other internal and external reports and information on the insurance market, conducts macro- and micro-level internal analytics, analyses all quantitative reports and notifications submitted to the Agency in accordance with the applicable legislation by entities subject to supervision, supervises reporting and notification by insurance companies, reinsurance companies and pension companies and proposes measures based on its findings, performs tasks in relation to Solvency II, collaborates with the Bank of Slovenia, the Securities Market Agency and other domestic supervisory authorities, formulates supervision policies, prepares and maintains website contents within its competence, collaborates with EIOPA (the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority), the IAIS (the International Association of Insurance Supervisors), EU and EEA authorities and institutions, other international supervisory authorities and their associations and other international institutions, prepares substantive positions of the Agency for judicial and other proceedings, performs awareness-raising tasks for financial literacy and consumer protection within its competence, and initiates minor offence proceedings for offences within its competence.

Performs supervision over entities’ operations by collecting, monitoring and checking reports and notifications submitted by insurance companies and other entities required to report to the Agency and notify it of certain facts and circumstances, performs inspections of the operations of entities subject to supervision, supervises insurance groups and financial conglomerates, performs tasks and duties in relation to coordination and collaboration with the supervisory authorities of member states and third countries and other authorities responsible for supervising the members of insurance groups and financial conglomerates, organises and conducts supervisory college meetings, participates in supervisory college meetings organised by other supervisory authorities, formulates and proposes measures against entities subject to supervision based on violations identified in inspections of their operations, checks the compliance of the members of supervisory boards of insurance companies, reinsurance companies and pension companies with the conditions laid down by law for the performance of their function, conducts analyses of the operations of entities subject to supervision with assessments of their risks, supervises the conduct of insurance companies in offering and marketing insurance products, identifies poor practices in the insurance sector, prepares substantive positions of the Agency for judicial and other proceedings pursuant to supervisory measures formulated by the division, collaborates in areas within its competence with supervisory institutions within EIOPE and supervisory institutions in other countries, particularly within the IAIS, and with EU and EEA authorities and institutions and other international institutions, performs awareness-raising tasks for financial literacy and consumer protection within its competence, and initiates minor offence proceedings for offences within its competence.

Performs supervision over insurance distributors concerning their offering, consulting, marketing and conclusion of insurance contracts and other preparatory activities before the conclusion of insurance contracts by inspecting their operations, monitoring, collecting and checking reports and notifications submitted by insurance companies and other entities required to report to the Agency and notify it of certain facts and circumstances, supervises other entities distributing insurance products without an appropriate authorisation of the Agency, supervises the performance of the services of assistance in the management and implementation of insurance contracts and in filing claims for damages, supervises appropriate handling of complaints and the appropriateness of the procedures of treating insured events, supervises the management of distribution channels, notification of the policyholders, and the general and other insurance conditions, proposes and prepares measures against insurance distributors and other entities based on violations identified in inspections of their operations, proposes and prepares measures against insurance distributors and other entities based on violations of the regulations, identifies bad practices in insurance distribution on the insurance market, examines complaints regarding the conduct of the supervised entities, prepares the positions of the Agency in legal and other procedures following measures of supervision, cooperates, in the scope of the area of work of the Section, with the supervisory institutions within the EIOPA and supervisory institutions in other countries, in particular within the international association IAIS, with the EU and EEA authorities and institutions and other international institutions, performs tasks of raising the awareness in the area of financial literacy and consumer protection within its competence.

Prepares draft decisions on applications for authorisations, consents, opinions and approvals issued by the Agency under the law governing the insurance sector and other laws to insurance companies, reinsurance companies, pension companies, entities engaged in insurance intermediation and brokerage activities and other applicants, prepares draft decisions on the termination and withdrawal of authorisations issued by the Agency under the law governing the insurance sector and other laws to insurance companies, reinsurance companies, pension companies, entities engaged in insurance intermediation and brokerage activities and other entities subject to supervision, maintains registers of issued authorisations and all changes and deletions from registers required by the law governing the insurance sector and other records of issued, withdrawn and terminated authorisations, consents, opinions and approvals, performs tasks in relation to cross-border operations, which involves the notification of the supervisory authorities of other member states for residents of the Republic of Slovenia and residents of other member states subject to supervision, regularly publishes the relevant registers on the Agency’s website, formulates and proposes measures against entities subject to supervision based on identified violations of regulations, collaborates in areas within its competence with supervisory institutions within EIOPE and supervisory institutions in other countries, particularly within the IAIS, and with EU and EEA authorities and institutions and other international institutions, performs awareness-raising tasks for financial literacy and consumer protection within its competence, supervises the training of insurance agents and brokers, and initiates minor offence proceedings for offences within its competence.

Head of Section: Ms. Katja Grošelj Ziherl, Deputy Director.
Conducts the Agency’s administrative procedures, is responsible for the preparation of draft amendments to laws and other legislation and prepares draft implementing regulations within the Agency’s competence, conducts legal reviews of draft internal regulations of the Agency, conducts legal reviews of calls for tenders and public contracts, performs legal reviews in other procedures of the Agency, performs tasks in relation to the publication of supervisory measures in accordance with the act governing the insurance sector, conducts minor offence proceedings within the Agency’s competence, examines received complaints regarding the conduct of entities subject to supervision, performs anti-money-laundering tasks within the Agency’s competence, drafts legal opinions and provides support in the interpretation of regulations, prepares the Agency’s filings in judicial and other proceedings, performs legal tasks and duties in relation to the performance of the Agency’s duties and the exercise of the Agency’s powers and in relation to the Agency’s operation as a legal entity, collaborates in areas within its competence with supervisory institutions within EIOPE and supervisory institutions in other countries, particularly within the IAIS, and with EU and EEA authorities and institutions and other international institutions, and performs awareness-raising tasks for financial literacy and consumer protection within its competence.

Provides technical and administrative support to the Director of the Agency, serves as the Agency’s head office and mailroom, drafts the Agency’s internal acts, performs tasks in relation to the establishment, upgrading and maintenance of the entire information system and information security system of the Agency, maintains and updates the Agency’s website, performs other tasks and duties in relation to the use of information technologies, performs tasks in relation to the Agency’s accounting and financial operations, purchases fixed assets and purchases and allocates office materials, performs labour-law-related tasks, performs public-procurement-related tasks, coordinates the participation of the Agency’s employees in trainings and working groups in Slovenia and abroad, performs awareness-raising tasks for financial literacy and consumer protection within its competence, maintains records within its competence, maintains the contents of the Agency’s website within its competence, and performs other tasks within its competence and other tasks assigned by the Director of the Agency.

The Head of the Section: Mr. Slavko Kavšek.
Performs tasks related to the establishment, upgrading, and maintenance of the Agency’s entire information system and information security system, ensures the maintenance and updates of the Agency’s website and social media, carries out supervision and inspections of the operations of supervised entities in the field of information technology, covers the area of artificial intelligence within supervised entities and at the Agency, proposes and prepares measures against supervised entities based on identified breaches of regulations, prepares the Agency’s substantive positions in judicial and other proceedings following supervisory measures, participates in the analysis of the operations of supervised entities by preparing risk assessments of individual supervised entities, as well as other tasks related to the use of information technology, provides support to the Legal Affairs and Regulatory Sector in preparing proposals for amendments to laws and draft secondary legislation in the field of work of the Sector, cooperates with supervisory authorities within EIOPA and supervisory institutions in other countries, primarily within the framework of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), with EU and EEA bodies and institutions, as well as with other international institutions. He carries out awareness-raising activities in the field of financial literacy and consumer protection related to the work of the Sector, maintains records within the scope of the Sector’s activities, and ensures the content of the Agency’s website relating to the Sector’s work.
