The Insurance Supervision Agency’s international efforts comprise activities that are conducted within the framework of various insurance and occupational pensions supervisory associations such as the EIOPA (European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) and the IAIS (International Association of Insurance Supervisors) as well as partnerships with other supervisory authorities on the implementation of the Insurance Supervision Agency’s supervisory tasks in order to enhance the business conduct of Slovene supervisory entities in third countries.
EIOPA (European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) was established 1.1.2011 with the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing an European Supervisory Authority (ESA) and succeeded CEIOPS (Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors).
EIOPA was established together with European Banking Authority – EBA and European Securities and Markets Authority – ESMA as a response to the financial crisis with the beginning in 2008. The main task of EIOPA is similar to the tasks of its predecessor CEIOPS, namely to act as a platform for cooperation between national supervisory authorities with the aim to converge supervisory regulation as well as supervisory practices.
EIOPA is sieged in Frankfurt Germany.

IAIS (International Association of Insurance Supervisors) is an international association of insurance and occupational pensions supervisors, established in 1994.
The mission of IAIS is to promote effective and globally consistent regulation and supervision of the insurance industry in order to develop and maintain fair, safe and stable insurance markets for the benefit and protection of policyholders and to contribute to global financial stability.
