Gorazd Čibej, LL.M

Gorazd Čibej has led the Insurance Supervision Agency of Slovenia since 2018, after serving as President of its Council of Experts since 2017. He is also a member of the Council of the Securities Market Agency of Slovenia and represents Slovenia on the Board of Supervisors of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and on the Executive Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). Within IAIS, he coordinates the CEET region, serves as Vice-Chair of the Protection Gaps Task Force, and is a member of the Implementation Assessment Committee and the Standards and Supervisory Practices Committee. In 2021, during Slovenia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, he chaired the Council Working Party on the Solvency II Directive review.

He graduated cum laude in Law from the University of Ljubljana in 2000 and earned an LL.M. in European Law from Lund University, Sweden, in 2001. He passed the state bar exam in 2004. He has complemented his legal career with advanced training in negotiation, mediation, and governance, including programs at Central European University (Mediator Certification recognized by the Cardozo School of Law and the American Bar Association), Mitchell Hamline School of Law (Certified International Business Negotiation, 2016), and Harvard University (Corporate Governance, 2017).
